Why translate in Slovakia

A translation made at home needs extra stamps. Mine does not.

Slovak offices accept foreign-language documents only with an official translation into Slovak.

Accepted directly

Valid at Slovak offices

The Labour Office, foreign police, registry offices, courts, schools and employers accept my translations.

No embassy visit

No consulate confirmation needed

A translation made abroad must come with a confirmation from the embassy that the translator was authorised. A translation made in Slovakia does not.

One person

You talk to the translator

I am not an agency. I check your document, answer your questions in English and translate it myself.

How it works

Three steps from photo to stamped translation

1

Send a photo

On WhatsApp or by email. I reply with the exact price and the date your translation will be ready.

2

Bring the original or a certified copy

In person in Trnava, or by post. The translation is bound to the document, so a notarised copy is often the better choice.

3

Collect your translation

Bound with the Slovak tricolour ribbon, signed and sealed. Ready to hand in at the office.

Questions

Before you send your document

What is the difference between official, certified and sworn translation?

In Slovakia they mean the same thing: a translation made by a translator registered with the Ministry of Justice, bound to the document and sealed with the official round seal. In Slovak it is called “úradný preklad”.

Can you send the official translation by email?

An official translation is always a printed document bound to the original or to a notarised copy. On request I can email you a scan of the finished translation, but the office will want the printed one. Ordinary (non-official) translations I deliver electronically.

How much does it cost?

From €20 per page (1,800 characters). Most certificates have one page. Specialised texts, such as medical reports, and urgent deadlines carry a surcharge that we agree before I start. See prices.

My document is in another language.

I translate English and Slovak myself. Official translations in 15 languages I arrange with fellow sworn translators and keep in touch with you throughout.

Do I have to come to Trnava?

No. You can send the original or a notarised copy by post and I will post the translation back. Clients from Bratislava often do this. See Bratislava.
